The Talented Rocky Teachers: What I Am

Vocabulary Station Using iPods

Each week, the students in Room 4 work at a vocabulary station.  They must pick six words to put in alphabetical order, pick three different words to illustrate using the app Skitch, and role play three additional words using the video camera on their iPods.  The students' engagement when working on vocabulary words is a delight to see.  They just can't wait to learn new words!

Welcome Students and Families!

Hi, I am Mrs. Campbell.  I am so excited to start a new school year with you all.  We will have many opportunities to get to know each other throughout the year, but here is a little information about me to start off the school year.

I live in Echo, Oregon with my husband Ben and two children.  Riley (6) is starting 1st Grade and Tyler (3) will enjoy his play-days at his babysitter's house.  I have been teaching for 9 years; five years in 2nd grade and four in 3rd grade.  I graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a degree in Elementary Education and later earned my Masters Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University.  I truly love being a teacher and the endless learning I continue to do through professional development and the experiences that your child brings to our classroom environment.

This year will be filled with great learning experiences and memories to last a lifetime.
Here's to a very happy, fun-filled, successful year!

Breakfast of Champions

Congratulations Abby!  It was a pleasure representing Abigail Sharon at the Breakfast of Champions for Rocky Heights 3rd Grade.  Abigail faces any challenge with a smile.  She started off
the schoolyear at a new school, in a new state, and never experienced recess below 55 degrees! She has passed her OAKS assessment in reading and math, and also scored high on her district writing assessment. Not only does she excel academically, but she also has caring and positive
characteristics that make her a true "Breakfast of Champions."

Innovative Technology

Wow!  Families, the endless technology opportunities your child is experiencing throughout third grade is amazing.  Make sure you are asking them to share with you all of their adventures
with an iPod Touch, iPads, Active Expressions, and more!

Lights Out! But Not on Learning

The Hermiston Power Outage didn't stop our learning on Friday.  Light provided by one classroom window and an open door was all our class needed to continue our Natural Resource Project.  Make sure to ask your child about Natural Resources and the 3 R's: recycle, reduce, and reuse.  We will be working on this project for our "Creative Arts Fridays" until the end of the year.  April is the perfect month to start this unit because April is the month to celebrate Earth Day!

Freezing Free Days; What did you do?

Today, I got to spend time with my grandma and grandpa.  Then we got to play in the snow.  We made a snowman then we got to color.  I drew a rainbow.  It was so beautiful I couldn't wait to show my grandma and she loved it and we put it on her refrigerator.  Then we got to watch TV in my grandma's room! Last but not least, we went home for dinner.

I like ice days.  They are really fun.  I was sliding.  My two brothers and I played tag and it was snowing.  I couldn't see because it was snowing and I fell down a lot!

Ice Day
On January 20, 2012 I woke up and MY WORLD WAS ICE!  Then my friend Hunter came over.  Then my cousin Austin.  We tried to ride our bikes.  Austin broke ice.  Do you like my ice day?

By Daytona

I liked the ice because we got to go sledding down the hill.  I liked the ice because my dad can do funny tricks.  I love ice but you might fall down if you run up the hill.  Then you would have to go to the doctor's office.

Who Says Learning Can't Be Fun?

Welcome back from Spring, oops, I mean... "Winter Break!" We have started our learning off just like any New Year--with a BANG!  During our day, we have three rotations of learning that
engage and inspire your child's learning and creativity.  Hopefully they
are sharing the excitement with you at home.
