Smokin' News for You! It's Fire Prevention Month!

Have you checked your smoke detector lately? This month is Fire Prevention Month. Make sure the batteries in your smoke detector are working.

If you know anything about safety, stand up and say "I Know Things!" Our class is very fortunate to have Officer Gretchen come into our classroom and teach us many important safety tips. Her engaging topics include: crime, crime prevention, personal safety, bike safety, pedestrian safety, escaping from burning buildings, 911, neighborhood watch, fire prevention at home, and so many more valuable lessons for your child. This month, Officer Gretchen taught how to report the address of the emergency situation if a call to 911 is necesary.

Flat Stanley and Stella Adventures

Happy Travels with Flat Stanley and Stella!

     As a part of our Reading, Writing, Social Studies, and Mathematics programs, the students and I have read a funny book called Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. The book is about a young boy named Stanley who is accidentally squished "as flat as a pancake" when a bulletin board falls on him while he is asleep. Stanley is very, very flat but otherwise fine. Stanley's family did not have enough money to send him on a train or plane to visit a friend in California, so they decided to send him through the mail. The story goes on to tell how Stanley discovers some real advantages of being flat. Our class has decided that we would like to do the same with our Flat Stanleys' and Stellas'. We are hoping our Stanleys' and Stellas' visit cities all over America and the World!
